5-25-08 Rescue one responded with several other companies to a report of an oven fire. Crews had heavy fire showing from a 2 story duplex. Rescue 1 completed a secondary search and assisted in opening up to check for extention.
5-23-08 North end companies responded to a vehicle wreck with entrapment. Crews found one car into a tree with one patient traped. Rescue one used griphoist to pull vehicle away from tree to start extrication of DOA. Crews used cutters and spreaders to remove drivers side door.

5-22-08 Rescue 1 assisted north end companies with the stabilization of a vehicle that was involved in a roll-over. Crews extricated one patient from the vehicle.
5-18-08 Rescue 1 responded with several other companies to a report of a structure fire on the north side. Upon arrival of E-8 reported heavy fire showing from a single story frame. Crews made a quick knock on a room and contents fire with a small amount of extension into the attic. Rescue 1 assisted with primary search and overhaul.
5-18-08 Crews responded to Bluegrass Airport for a report of a fire on board of an aircraft. Crews staged inside gate while airport fire investigated to find a fire in the bathroom had been extinguished.

5-17-08 Rescue 1 responded with E-4, and EC-7 to a park down town for a child with his foot stuck in a fountain drain. Rescue 1 helped remove childs foot with no injuries found.
5-11-08 Rescue 1 responded with several other companies to the south side for a report of vehicle wreck with entrapment. Rescue 1 removed both doors, roof, and both seat backs to remove two patients.

5-10-08 Rescue one responded to a report of a structure fire on the south side. Upon arrival crews had heavy fire from the second floor of a 2 story wood frame. Rescue 1 made entry through the rear to search the fire floor and help open up. Crews had heavy fire on second floor and attic space.
5-5-08 Rescue training was held at the training center with several of the ladder companies invited to attend.


4-29-08 Rescue One responded to a possible structure fire on the south side. Crews had light smoke on arrival from a three story apartment building. Rescue one assisted in overhaul of the attic of two apartments with primary search cleared by other companies prior to arrival.

4-05-08 Rescue 1 responded downtown to a reported apartment fire. Crews located fire on the second floor of a three story apartment building. Rescue 1 performed primary search on third floor while fire was extinguished on second floor.
4-04-08 Crews responded to a report of a structure fire with nothing showing on arrival. Rescue 1 assisted in opening up to check for extension from a small fire next to the water heater.
4-02-08 Rescue 1 responded with other crews to a report of a structure fire on the west side. Crews had heavy fire from a single story wood frame attic vents on arrival. Rescue 1 assisted in pulling ceilings to gain access to the attic. Crews made quick work of the fire.
4-01-08 Crews responded to a report of an apartment fire on the south side. Crews had nothing showing from a 3 story apartment complex. Upon investigation of first in companies, crews found light smoke on the third floor. Rescue 1 assisted other crews with search of the second and third floor, and opening up ceilings to access fire in the attic.
3-31-08 Several crews responded again to downtown for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival crews had heavy fire showing from first floor A anf B side windows of a two story wood frame. Rescue 1 had a delayed response due to working another fire on the west end. Upon arrival rescue one assisted with overhaul.

3-31-08 Crews responded to the west side for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival light smoke was showing from a two story wood frame residential. Rescue 1, and ladder 3 searched first and second floor while lines were placed on a small fire in the basement. Rescue 1 left the scene for a report of another structure fire close to station 3.
3-30-08 Rescue 1 responded downtown to a report of smoke in the structure. While enroute the run was updated to a structure fire. Upon arrival crews had heavy smoke showing from a single story wood frame (shotgun) style house with B and D side exsposures. E-1 and Ladder1 made entry through the front door while Rescue 1 made entry in the rear for a primary search. Upon entry of Rescue 1, crew encountered heavy fire and called for lines to the rear. Crews made a good knock on the fire once lines were advanced to the seat of the fire from the rear of the house.
3-29-08 Rescue one responded downtown to a working fire in a single story wood frame (shotgun). First in crews had heavy fire showing from the front on arrival. Rescue 1 crew assisted with search and opening up.
3-28-08 Crews responded to a report of a body floating in the river. Crews walked the banks while crews from the rescue team launched the river boat with nothing found.
3-27-08 The rescue team was hard at work creating a RIT training video to be used department wide. Crews from Engine 8, Engine 13, Rescue 1, and Nick Newman (camera man) all participated in the early stages of the video with many hours of recording left.

3-25-08 Rescue 1 responded to the south side for a vehicle wreck with entrapment. Crews found one patient traped in a vehicle with heavy damage to the drivers side. Crew assisted with stabilization, roof removal and patient disentaglement.
3-24-08: Crew spent the day on the air. R-1 along with the Technical Rescue Team companies (E-8, E-9, E-12, E-13) spent the day at the Fire Training Center with the Rescue Battalion Chief reviewing upcoming changes to related SOP's and forthcoming "command check sheets." After a few untimely text messages and control of the classroom was regained the day proved very insightful.
3-24-08: (2nd Platoon) Rescue 1 responded to the southest section of Lexington for a construction worker injured in a trench. EC-2 was first on scene with an experienced crew that recognized the need for a shoring operation and advised the incoming companies of the situation. The responding District Officer (202) called for a full trench response that included E-9, E-8, E-12, L-2, HM-1, 242, 200, 230, MA-1, R-2, and Rescue-1. R-2 is a support collapse unit with shoring materials. The on-scene size-up revealed (1) injured worker in a trench roughly cut 6' X 6' X 8'deep. Technical rescue companies went to work with (12) trench techs. shoring the trench, with additional companies in support. Paratech airshores were used in a very smooth operation with the patient extricated within 55 minutes. Special thanks to ALL the companies on scene for a classic special operation incident. Compliments to the Technical Rescue Team companies who train so hard and so often for such incidents. Great job guys!

3-20-08 Rescue 1 responded to the north side with other crews to a wreck with entrapment. Crews had one patient traped upon arrival. Rescue 1 assised in stabilization, and a drivers side b-post blowout to gain entry to the the patient.

3-18-08 Crews responded to a structure fire on the north side. Upon E-8 arrival crew had smoke showing from a single story wood frame. E-8 made a quick stop on a kitchen fire with no extension. Rescue 1 assisted in support operations.
3-16-08 Several companies responded to Bluegrass Airport for an aircraft with malfuntioning nose gear. Crews staged while plane completed emergency landing without gear. No injuries or fire occured during the landing.

3-16-08 Companies responded to a fire in an assisted living high rise. Crews had smoke showing from a 12th floor window on arrival. Rescue 1 was assigned to search of the 12th floor. Crews accessed upper floors via stairwell. Search was completed after all fire floor occupants were moved to a safe area on the 10th floor. Crews made a quick knock down on the fire.

3-14-08 Rescue 1 along with other companies responded to a possible structure fire on the south side. Crews had heavy smoke on arrival. E-12 forced entry through front door while Rescue 1 made entry in the rear to start a search. Crew encountered fire in the hallway and interior basement stairwell and called for a line to the basement. Crews advanced lines to the basement while other hand lines were used to extinguish first floor fire.
3-13-08 Rescue 1 and several other companies responded to the south side for a possible structure fire. E-12 had heavy smoke on arrival. Crew forced front door, Rescue 1 crew forced door in the rear to start a primary search. Crew encountered fire in the hall bathroom and interior stairwell, and located main body of fire in the basement. After search was completed Rescue 1 assisted with first floor extinguishment while other crews extinguished fire in basement.
3-12-08 Crews from Ladder 7, Engine 22, and Rescue 1 took advantage of the beautiful day to do some rope training at Station 22.

3-09-08 It was a slow day at Firehouse 3.

3-09-08 Rescue 1 along with several other companies responded to the south side for a vehicle crash with entrapment. Upon arrival crews had two vehicles with three patients traped. Ladder 7 crew removed drivers side doors, passenger side front door and rolled dash to free two patients in one vehicle while Rescue 1 crew stabilized, removed roof, took drivers side door and rolled dash to extricate third patient in the second vehicle. Responding crews were E-22, E-7, L-7, 202, R-1, EC-1, EC-4, EC-2, 242.

3-08-08 Multiple companies responded to a vehilcle accident involving a tractor trailer and an SUV with possible entrapment. Upon arrival of rescue 1 Ladder 5 was in the process of flaping the roof of a small SUV to extricate one patient. Rescue 1 used spreaders to gain entry to dissconnect battery while other crews had patient care.


3-07-08 Crews responded to a report of a possible structure fire on the south side. Crews had light smoke from the roof of an apartment complex. A second alarm was requested. Rescue 1 crew performed a primary search of apartments on top floor and assisted in opening up ceilings to check for fire extention.
3-4-08 Rescue 1 responded with other companies to a vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival crew stabilized vehicle, disconnected battery and assisted Ladder 7 in a roof removal to gain access and extricate patient.


3-3-08 Rescue 1 responded with other companies at the request of E-13 to a vehicle accident with entrapment. Crew disconnected battery, stabilized vehicle and performed a drivers side B post blowout to gain entry to Pt.

3-3-08 Rescue 1 along with several other companies and Rescue Monkey attended rope training at the training center. Crews went over operation and technician level training.


2-29-08 Rescue 1 responded to a structure fire on the west end of the city. Upon arrival E-14 crew had heavy smoke pushing from the second and third floor windows of a three story appartment complex. Upon arrival of Rescue 1, crew found numerous jumpers from the third floor in the rear of the structure. 203 requested a second alarm while Rescue 1 crew made entry for a primary search and to open up ceilings, walls and assist in extinguishment operations. 2-29-08 Rescue 1 took a quick picture with George Strait after his concert at Rupp Arena, while Lt. Carlin was trying on new hats to look like George.

2-28-08 Rescue 1 responded to a vehicle accident with entrapment. Crew found one Pt. still in vehicle. Rescue 1 took drivers side door to gain entry to Pt.

2-26-08 Rescue one was invited to Tates Creek Elementry to visit with several kids that were interested in how Lt. Carlin was doing. 230 (Chief Jordan), and Teresa Isaac also attended the visit. All the kids as well as the teachers were glad to see that he was doing well. The students had a good time listening to Carlin and watching there classmate dress out in full turnouts. Rescue 1 and the Rescue Monkey were very appreciative of the gifts that were given to us by the class.



2-21-08 Rescue 1 along with other crews responded to a structure fire at the Scott County line. Upon arrival of E-19 crew had heavy fire pushing from a second story window of a 2 story brick. Bystanders advised of one occupant still inside second floor. Rescue 1 split into 2 teams for an aggressive search with one team performing VES on the second floor and one searching from the nozzle back. Attack line (E-8) extinguished fire and located victim in fire room. Scott County Fire arrived on scene and help with support functions. After primary search was completed R-1 crew assisted with searching for fire extension and overhaul.
2-14-08 Rescue 1 responded to a vehicle wreck involving a rollover. Upon arrival of E-13 crews had a two vehicle head on collision with several others involved. Crews found one DOA and two others needing to be transported. Crew help package patients with no extrication needed.

2-12-08 Second worker of the day. Crews responded to an apartment fire with light smoke on arrival. Rescue 1 forced entry to apartment above fire for search. Search proved negative while crew found fire extinsion through the floor and interior walls. A second alarm was requested by 203. Rescue 1 opened walls and ceilings to expose fire for the hose crew.
2-12-08 Rescue 1 crew responded to a structure fire on the north side to find a fully involved detached garage with E-8, E-2 making a quick knock on the fire.
2-08-08 Rescue 1 responded to a vehicle accident with possible entrapment. 202 first on scene reported one patient traped. R-1 took drivers door to gain entry to patient that had minor injuries.
2-6-08 Rescue 1 along with several other companies responded to a report of an explosion. E-6 first on scene with a ruptured steam pipe. Several cars were damaged due to the explosion. Crews cleared scene after main was shut down.

2-05-08 Rescue 1 had a busy night due to strong storms that rolled through the area. Crews responded to a veriety of calls, including building collapse, and structure fires with no injuries found at any incident. North side crews were requested at Georgetown for a 5 story hotel fire fully involved with exposure problems. Crews maned city stations and made runs county wide while crews were busy on the fire.
2-04-08 Rescue 1 assisted with opening up and overhaul in a single family residents on the north side. First in crews had heavy fire venting from a bedroom window on the first floor of a 1 1/2 story frame.
2-03-08 R-1 responded back to the same mobile home park for the second fire of the day. Crews had heavy fire venting from another single wide. R-1 assisted with extinguishment and ovehaul of the home that had heavy fire throughout.
2-03-08 R-1 responded to a mobile home fire. Upon arrival crews had a heavly involved single wide. R-1 assisted with a secondary search. Fire was contained prior to crews arrival.
2-2-08 Rescue 1 responded to a one room fire in an apartment building. Due to a quick knock down on the fire by E-9, R-1 assisted other companies with support operations.
2-2-08 R-1 responded to a pin job on the north side with two patients traped in a vehicle on its side. R-1 crew stablized vehicle with Res-Q-Jacks and assisted E-2, and L-5 with patient removal through windshield. R-1 left scene for a reported structure fire on the south side.

1-28-07 R-1 assisted Ladder 7 with the removal of one patient from a two vehicle head on collision on the south side

1-27-08 R-1 and E-16 performed primary search of the 1st and 2nd floors of a Holiday Inn. E-16 removed one occupant from 1st floor while R-1 removed occupants from floor above fire.
1-26-08 R-1 responded with other companies to another pin jod on the south side. Crew assisted L-7 with stabilization, door removal of a two vehicle collision
1-26-08 R-1 responded with L-3, E-13 and E-10 to a vehicle wreck with entrapment. R-1 used Res-Q-Jacks to stabilize vehicle on its side and assisted with roof flap.

1-26-08 R-1 responded across town to a report of an apartment fire. Fire was contained to room of origin prior to R-1 arrival.
1-24-08 R-1 responded to two structure fires with both being small storage sheds fully envolved upon arrival. Crews also responded to a vehicle accident with possible entrapment. Upon arrival of E-14 and EC-5, crews had two vehicles fully involved 150ft. apart and reported everyone was out. E-14 stoped to extingush first vehicle while R-1 and L-4 used extinguishers on second vehicle.

1-22-08 R-1 responded to a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival E-8 found a 25x25 detached garage fully involved. Crews of E-8 and EC-3 made a quick knock down on the fire. R-1 secured utilites and checked occupants.
1-19-08 R-1 responded to a second alarm fire at Bluegrass Station. Crews were pulled out of structure for defensive operations soon after arrival of second alarm companies.

1-19-08 R-1 responded to a vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival E-23 reported one vehicle hit by train with one still inside. Crews had patient out of truck prior to R-1 arrival.

1-15-08 R-1 responded to a report of a mattress fire in a residents. Upon arrival E-2 reported light smoke from a one story brick. E-2, L-5 made quick work of the small fire with minimal extention. Due to R-1 late arrival, crew stood by in staging.
1-15-08 R-1 was called to a high angle rescue for a cardiac patient down on a billboard sign. R-1 crew packaged patient into a stokes basket and with the assistance of Ladder 2, lowered patient via aerial ladder safely to the ground, and into the care of EC-1. Additional companies on scene were E-1, Unit 205 (Maj. Tracy),and Asst Chief Fowler.



1-9-08 R-1 reponded to a vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival of E-19 crew had 2 vehicles involved with one person traped. 203 requested UK areomed for a scene flight for pt. while Ladder 3 and Rescue 1 removed roof, and performed a sidewall removal on drivers side.
1-6-08 R-1 responded to report of a mobile home fire. Upon arrival E-11 had a well involved moble home. R-1 gained entry and performed primary search while additional companies attacked fire.
1-06-08 R-1 put on a ventilation class at the Congress Inn with participation from several companies including all Squads.

1-6-08 Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Lt. John Martinson of FDNY who lost his life at a high rise fire in Brooklyn on Thursday.
1-5-08 Rescue 1 assisted with containment and protection of exposures in a graphite oven at a commercial property on the west side of town.
1-03-08 Second Plt. R-1 responded first due to a report of a structure fire with people still inside. Upon arrival with EC-8, crews had moderate smoke showing from the eves of a one-story frame (shotgun) house. Off-duty firefighter David Cole was on scene and in the process of evacuating residents. R-1 performed a primary search while EC-8 attended to the occupants. R-1 assisted E-4 in opening ceilings to access a well-involved attic fire. Companies performed extensive overhaul to extinguish hidden fires.
